Rules & riders

Ticket Match only works if every ticket is given the right way. Here are the simple rules for everyone involved. Please read the part that's for you.

A quick word on club rules Many Premier League and sold-out clubs restrict ticket sharing. You may have to name who you share with, there can be limits on how often a ticket is passed on or a game missed, some clubs record "strikes" against season ticket holders, and some want unused tickets returned to them to resell. Lower-league and non-league clubs are often far more relaxed. At the big clubs, the clean route is for the club or its foundation to donate its own seats.

1. For donors

  • Only offer tickets you're allowed to pass on under your club's rules. Check your club's ticket-sharing or season-ticket terms first.
  • Any club penalty, strike or restriction is the ticket holder's responsibility.
  • Tickets must be free. Never sell them or swap them for money.
  • Offer as early as you can. The more notice, the easier it is for a family to go.
  • Clubs, foundations and box or hospitality holders are especially welcome to donate their own seats.

2. For families and people going

  • Tickets are free. Never resell them or pass them on.
  • You may need to use the original ticket holder's name or details, if the club requires it.
  • Follow the club's ground regulations and conduct rules.
  • Under-16s must go with an adult.
  • If you can't go, tell your referral partner straight away so the seats can go to someone else.

3. For referral partners

  • Refer only people in genuine financial hardship.
  • Accept or decline ticket offers within 24 hours.
  • You're responsible for safeguarding the people you refer.
  • Confirm afterwards whether they went.
  • Keep personal data to a minimum.
  • Please share the rules for families (above) with the people you refer.

4. About Sport Local Action and Ticket Match

  • Tickets remain subject to the issuing club's terms and conditions.
  • We're not liable if a club cancels or changes a fixture, refuses entry, or penalises a ticket holder.
  • We can remove any donation, referral or partner at our discretion.
